Really disappointed. Extremely overpriced for amount and quality of food. £66 for a “duck platter for two”, compromised of a breast, leg and some sausage and beans. Cooked well but flavour was lacking and not enough for two people - especially not for the price. Atmosphere was lacking, again just not what you expect for the money you pay. Not sure if this is hyped up by its cheap lunch deal, but definitely not worthy of an expensive dinner. Absolutely brilliant. No notes. Simply a must visit. Stockbridge Eating House is everything you want from a proper local community eating spot and blows top recommends out of the water. Laid back, intimate, small seating, lively and communal atmosphere. It feels lived in and loved. The menu changes daily and the food is exceptional. The sharing rib eye was genuinely one of the best steaks we’ve ever had, cooked perfectly, deeply flavoured and charred. This is confident cooking without the fuss. Every dish felt thoughtful and deserved on the menu. The staff were outstanding too. Warm, attentive and knowledgeable. They knew the menu well and clearly cared about developing a rapport with you, and about what they’re serving. Service felt personal. The atmosphere alone would bring us back again and again, but the cooking makes it a must visit if you’re anywhere near Stockbridge. We’ll definitely be back. AFTER DINNER TIP: cross the road afterwards for a nightcap at The Last Word, a cosy whiskey and cocktail bar with great knowledgeable staff. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £100+
