I visited Sushi Sake Boca on a Sunday around 5:00pm, when the restaurant was far from busy. There was one large party of about seven people (including toddlers), a two-top, and my table of two. Another larger group arrived after we had already been seated. We ordered three rolls—two raw, one cooked—and somehow the large table that came after us received all of their rolls before we did. Having worked in the restaurant industry, specifically in a high-traffic sushi restaurant, this made absolutely no sense. When we asked about the delay, we were told it was due to an “internet connection issue,” but that doesn’t excuse the lack of communication or the server not keeping up with the sushi chef. Service overall was slow. Our waters were never refilled, and the server didn’t check in enough considering how empty the restaurant was. To top it off, they couldn’t even get a simple modification right—I asked for my hamachi jalapeño roll with seaweed on the outside, and it still came out incorrectly. The atmosphere was nice, but that’s about the only positive I can give. The sushi was sub-par, the service was disappointing, and the experience didn’t match the price point or expectations.
