After forgetting to make a reservation at any of the local downtown restaurants this was the only one with available tables. I was very worried per the reviews painted the restaurant and food quality, but still tried it. I don’t think it was the best meal I’ve had in durham but it wasn’t the worst either. My cocktail was fine although I wish they used fresh fruit, the paella was the best part although oily, it tasted great. Patatas braves were good, the sauce was yummy and I tried to use some of it on other things. The salad de jamon was delicious, The Brussel sprouts were still hard and not cooked long enough. And the dessert was okay, the flan wasn’t the best I had, and the churros I’d be surprised if it didn’t go well (how can you mess up a churro). All in all I wouldn’t pick this first, but I’m glad there was an emergency spot for the sake of having dinner on a night out in downtown durham without a reservation. We had such a fabulous dinner with out-of-town friends. we were welcomed to Taberna Tapas by Arielle, the hostess. She was absolutely delightful and assisted us with switching our table accommodations, which I had not specified in the reservation. Arielle made that happen seamlessly. We ordered the paella for 4 to 6 people and had some lovely top us prior to it arriving the octopus, shrimp and brussels sprouts were out of this world. They were delivered warm and beautifully presented. Then the paella arrived and was served perfectly. Everyone was so thrilled with the taste and tenderness of the ingredients. We spent quite some time discussing our Wonderful experience while still at the table! I have dined here many times. It is one of my true favorites in the city of fabulous restaurants! Yum!
