I loved Taline. From the playfully designed sign at the front (the cursive of the English letters T & A are drawn to make up the Armenian T, for Taline - the owners’ mother), to the traditional music and simple atmosphere (Sayat-Nova, Komitas), to the classically Armenian & Lebanese flavors with a modern interpretation - the place is a beautiful homage to our storied culture that spans thousands of years. Taline being recognized by Michelin - the only Armenian restaurant so far (with hopefully many more to follow!), in one of the world’s most culturally diverse cities - made me exceptionally proud. Taline puts Armenian flavors and hospitality on the map for the masses, with classics like matnakash bread and khorovats / kebab reimagined anew. P.S. I was visiting from NYC, and Taline was on my radar for the next Toronto trip, so we made sure to stop by. The hospitality shown by the founders who stopped by to chat, laughed with us, accommodated a dietary restriction without us asking - this is the best of Armenian heritage on display. Every dish felt curated and intentional. Plates were not assembled purely for looking good, every element had its place and contributed to the overall experience. Staff were extremely attentive and shared stories behind the dishes and the restaurant. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $100+ Recommended dishes: Pistachio Tart, Kibbeh Nayeh
