We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Engine Room in Derby and would highly recommend it. To start, we had the pigs in blankets with honey and wholegrain mustard glaze, which were absolutely delicious. For our mains, we chose the sirloin of beef and the pork loin Sunday roasts. Both were excellent, but the beef was the standout dish for us – perfectly cooked, incredibly tender and packed with flavour. We finished off with the delicious lemon brûlée tart for dessert. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and a good selection of cocktails and mocktails. What really made the experience special was the service. Freya and Sophia were both incredibly welcoming, attentive and happy to answer any questions we had throughout our visit. From the quality of the food to the exceptional service, everything exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely be returning and would recommend The Engine Room to anyone looking for a great Sunday roast in Derby. Meal type: Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

18/04/26 Dined in for a meal with my partner after hearing all food was cooked fresh on site. Ordered 2x bavette steaks, a side of paprika fries and some drinks. After roughly 6minutes we were delivered 2x fatty ribeye steaks which we never even ordered… I spoke to the waitress and she had, who I can only assume was the manager come over. Instead of taking the wrong meals back he stood and continued to patronise us both telling us that the bavette steaks are usually really fatty and therefore we ‘are welcome to the ribeyes’. I told him we didn’t order these steaks and if I wanted a ribeye I would have ordered them as they’re literally together on the ‘grill’ part of the menu. He continued to try and pass off the two ribeyes on us both as clearly he couldn’t be bothered changing them over. He then left the table and brought the hash browns and fried eggs which were supposed to come with the meal we had originally ordered. We explained this wasn’t right (we wanted the steaks we ordered) but still, he wouldn’t replace them. We asked for the bill, after picking at the fatty ribeyes we were given, to which i realised we had also been charged for everything that was brought to the table… (even though we never asked for half of it!) I immediately spoke to the manager at the front of house till and explained that we weren’t happy. I was then told that he would ‘sort it all and bring it back over’ so I took a seat, expecting him to do the decent thing and bring me a bill for what we had actually ordered/eaten… the bill came back to the table and we had now been charged for the bavette steaks which we hadn’t even been given. He then stood at the table and insisted that a 20% voucher was acceptable in regards to the issues we had whilst dining here. (We don’t even live in Derby so can’t ever use them ‍) All in all, I wouldn’t ever eat here again and certainly WOULD NOT recommend to anyone else I know! The staff have no idea what they’re doing in regards to processing orders and the food was basic at best! (Fatty steaks and undercooked chips) Definitely not worth what we were made to pay for, after all we only wanted what we ordered. Solid 2/10… the manager needs to seriously look at what he/his staff are doing and give them all a refresher on how to deal with customers! Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2 Order type: Dine in
