The Rooftop Restaurant at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon is a great place to have a meal before a show. The location is beautiful, with stunning views of the River Avon and Bancroft Gardens. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the menu offers a good selection of starters, mains and desserts for all dietary needs. The two-course pre-theatre menu at £22.50 per person is excellent value for money. The food is delicious, with highlights such as the Aubrey’s dry-aged beef pave and the vegetarian masala curry. The wine list is a bit on the expensive side, but you can also enjoy a cocktail master-class or an afternoon high tea. Overall, the Rooftop Restaurant is a great choice for a pre-theatre dinner, with delicious food, attentive service and a beautiful view. Highly recommended.
Great start to a theatre break - we always have the pre theatre lunch. It’s become somewhat of a tradition now and you never disappoint. Lovely food. Good choice of wine. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We had a lovely lunch at the Rooftop restaurant today. Unfortunately our friend was taken ill (not due to the food!), the staff were very kind and attentive, even bringing her a fresh meal. When the problem persisted they boxed her lunch for her to take home. A big thank you to them for their care and professionalism, it was much appreciated.

Lovely restaurant, food delicious and the waitress very friendly, this was at 5 30 pm for a pre-show meal but I'm going to give 3 stars firstly because the mojito cocktail I asked for tasted nothing like a mojito!! There was no lemonade or sugar used and I'm sure it was tonic they served which was just grim! Also i was served ice cream instead of clotted cream for dessert with the plum tart. When I mentioned that I'd ordered clotted, he took the plate away but came back with the same plate saying there was no clotted cream available. Very disappointing that the waitress did not know this. I'd have had zero dessert if I'd known! I'd still come back as I love the RSC but hopefully they'll have better knowledge of cocktails! Oh and the duck terrine starter was absolutely divine!
