The meal here was amazing. I’ve traveled most of Japan the last few weeks and this was next level. I picked the recommended options of the menu and it was perfect. Hi, I’m Thomas from the UK, now living in Kyoto. Today I visited Torisei, a well-known restaurant with several locations — but this is the main branch in Fushimi. It’s surrounded by traditional sake breweries, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The building itself is a large, old-style Japanese house, giving it a very authentic feel. The menu is extensive and fun to explore. One unique experience here is the self-serve sake barrel, where you can pour your own drink. It can get busy, especially on weekends, but on weekdays it’s relatively easy to visit. Another interesting detail — in the parking area, there’s natural spring water flowing from underground. Locals come constantly to collect it, which tells you a lot about the quality of water in this sake-producing area. If you want to experience Fushimi’s sake culture in a relaxed setting, this is a great place to stop. Price per person: ¥7,000–8,000 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
