Totaro is a simple but charming dessert spot that’s perfect for a quick sweet treat while exploring the area. One thing to note is that it’s standing-room only, so it’s more of a casual stop rather than a place to sit and relax for long. Queued and waited around 20-30 minutes. Despite the compact setup, the desserts were enjoyable and made for a nice little break in between sightseeing. The atmosphere feels very local and laid-back, adding to the overall experience. The store is tiny and it might just be because it was really hot so everyone was out for a drink. The line moves really slow because they will only let people in when there is a table ready so on a Sunday I waited around an hour. I got a matcha latte and a coffee which were both okay. Nothing about the drinks stood out to me. I think everyone comes for the shaved ice and dango but by the time I got in I didn’t have time to try any snacks. I do appreciate that they give a snack with your drinks which was really good. I might try again on a weekday so I can get the shaved ice. Definitely worth the hype! While the wait was 20 mins, the matcha was delicious. I ordered the brown sugar matcha with oat milk. If you prefer a sweetened matcha, this is perfect. It’s also great that they have oat milk. I got the milk ice cream - for creaminess. The staff are so lovely and make it in front of you. Worth a try!
