I have had two evening meals here and each time I thought it was ok. The only thing is your not paying for ok it's expensive. It's a limited choice in strandhill and the food is nice but you pay a premium for the location.

Had dinner here a while ago and was very disappointed. The restaurant itself was dark and not particularly comfortable or pleasant to be in. The toilets were disgusting. They are shared with a Chinese restaurant across the hall and smelled strongly of Chinese food. They were poorly maintained and not clean. The waitress was pleasant. The food itself however was the problem. It was average/passable. Not particularly enjoyable. Both myself and my dining partner kind of slogged through the main and neither of us enjoyed it. All of the food was very oily, and we also ordered gratin potatoes which was literally soggy potatoes in oil, with a mountain of cheddar on top. It was very unpleasant. Certainly not worth the money we paid. We left the restaurant with both of us feeling queasy, with me actually being sick afterward, which is very uncommon/worrying when just after vacating a restaurant! It was such a disappointment considering we had read such excellent reviews and were really looking forward to it. I won't be going back to Tra Ban and I definitely would not recommend it to anyone.
