Food is great but being put on a 10 minute waitlist for a server meeting is ridiculous, why are you not training your staff before service? Are you serious? It's giving greezy lazy management not wanting to pay to train their staff. Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $40–50

I wish I could have given this place a better review because, I really wanted to eat here. I only wanted to order a plate and my husband wanted the unlimited hot pot. We were told that we both have to eat unlimited or vice versa. My appetite isn't big enough for that . So we left. Hopefully they will change this so he can get to try it. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $20–30

I will not be returning to Umiya Raleigh after an extremely disappointing experience. When we arrived, we waited about 30 minutes to be seated, then another 10 minutes just to be greeted. The iPad used for ordering wasn’t set up, so I tried to figure it out myself before having to call someone over. After it was finally set up and we ordered drinks, the iPad died within a minute, forcing us to call for a replacement. We then waited another 10 minutes just for water, and never received straws even after being told they’d be right back. Our noodles and vegetables came out before the soup base, which made no sense. After waiting around 20 more minutes, I had to call the waiter again just to get straws and chopsticks. The sushi my boyfriend ordered—one of the first items placed—didn’t arrive for about 30 minutes. The worst part was when I ordered vegetable dumplings. After cooking them, I bit into one and immediately realized it was pork. I am a vegetarian and instantly lost my appetite. When I told the waiter, he said he could bring vegetable ones “to compare,” while also saying the dumplings I had looked like pork. I cut all three open and confirmed they were all pork. At that point, I told him I no longer wanted to eat. The only “compensation” offered was attempting to apply a military discount—which didn’t even take anything off the bill. That was extremely upsetting given the mistake ruined my meal entirely. When it was time to pay, I told the waiter I wanted to put $50 on a card that I know for a fact had money on it. He said it wasn’t working, so I had to find another way to pay the full tab instead of splitting it. Service throughout the night was very inattentive. We never received drink refills, and every time we needed something I had to call him over—sometimes being ignored as he walked past. I usually tip very well, but due to the poor service and overall experience, I selected no tip. The waiter then followed us to the front to reprint the receipt and asked if he had done anything wrong, as if the service and food issues hadn’t occurred. Overall, this was a terrible experience from start to finish. Between the long waits, poor service, food mistakes, and lack of accountability, I will not be returning. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Recommendation for vegetarians: Would not recommend Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section Vegetarian options: got pork dumplings instead of vegetable Parking space: Difficult to find parking Parking options: Free of charge parking lot

Hi Lexi, thank you for your feedback. We are sincerely sorry that your visit was so frustrating. This experience is certainly not a reflection of our usual service standards.Regarding the dumplings, we want to reassure you that we take dietary preferences seriously and double check all products to ensure they are correct. The filling in those dumplings was our mushroom-based vegetable recipe, which can have a "meaty" appearance, but we apologize for the distress the confusion caused you.As for the service issues, we are taking your comments to heart. The server involved will be held accountable and properly retrained to ensure our guests are treated with much more care and professionalism. We would like the chance to make this right and properly compensate you for the evening. Please give us a call back at (919)-896-6023 and ask to speak with the manager. We hope to hear from you soon.
