A MICHELIN star: cuisine of great finesse. Worth the step!

Countertop French dining in a merchant’s house with a brick oven. The classic cuisine here is interlaced with woodfire cooking learned in Spain. Shiitake mushroom and shrimp wrapped in pie pastry is a feature menu item. Sauce is thoroughly reduced over the fire, wreathed in smoke from the embers. ‘Ima’ means ‘now’, inviting you to live in the moment... More info

What an incredible dining experience! The staff were so professional and kind. Our server even went the extra mile and made a custom menu that said happy honeymoon for my husband and I. The chef carefully chose each course, so that the flavors flowed seamlessly from one course to the next. I particularly loved the smoked soup and the mushroom pie. I will be thinking about the food from this place for a long time. I highly recommend! Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Every course continued to wow us. Any of my other five star reviews does not allow true justice to be served for how good this food was. This place is a 10 star place. The price was perfect. About $100 USD a person for a multiple course and drink pairing meal. The mushroom dish was by far my favorite. Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Yes

Innovative Japanese French cuisine in Kyoto - Overall: Came across this restaurant somehow somewhere and was unsure whether this would be good but turned out to be a great experience! - Concept: 薪火料理 is a really good concept that brings out umami of ingredients in unexpected ways with slightly charred scents, and added depth to flavors - Cuisine: The menu feels quite seasonal featuring chestnuts, mushrooms etc, and resonated with Chef's background from Hiroshima - Verdict: Although it is quite a new restaurant but the chef and team were very professional and presented a fantastic meal for diners, would highly recommend Budget: Dinner 15000 JPY ++ Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Dietary restrictions: Currently unable to accommodate allergies
