Needs better aesthetics and adults only dinner service to maintain an intimate atmosphere. This used to be a local Raleigh favorite of mine and having lived back in Texas for over a decade, I was looking forward to experiencing once again, the pleasure of an amazing Southern icon that is the Angus Barn. My husband and I were rather irritated and extremely distracted that there was a dining room with an abundance of small children (on a Sunday night) where there was no established decorum whatsoever. Interestingly enough, they have a no cell phone recommendation, yet the noise felt like a glorified Golden Corral at best. We even extended our trip by a day just to have dinner here. It was disappointing that we spent over $300.00 just to depart feeling disappointed. I will say we wanted to end the night on a positive note by having a post-dinner drink in the Turkey lounge to hopefully course correct the situation - the longue unfortunately ended up being dark, dingy and smelled like seafood. Please note, this feedback is not to distastefully bash the AB, it’s to hopefully raise awareness that with some updates and considerations this would make for an overall better dining experience not only for locals, but for out of towners like us which would would warrant an &300.00 plus dinner for two. To end on a good note here - the hostess made a sweet and welcoming first impression! Also, the steak, potatoes, cheese & crackers along with the chocolate chess pie, were all delicious. Our waiter John was also fabulous. The establishment needs to hit on all cylinders for a true 5 experience, however. Perhaps we will try again another time in the future in hopes that it’s once again back to the memorable dining establishment it’s always been in years past.
