Come here for a drink after a long walk around Galle Face Green. All the guests adore wonderful Indian cuisine at this restaurant. The recipe for success of Bombay Borough is its good butter chicken, paneer and naan. Tasty curry dessert, ice cream and kulfi can make a good impression on you. Delicious wine is among the tastiest drinks to degust. Come here and have great masala chai or good mango lassi.

The cosy atmosphere of this place makes visitors feel relaxed and have a nice time. The appealing staff at this spot can demonstrate how much they like their clients. The cool service is something these restaurateurs care about. This restaurant provides you with a great choice of dishes for adequate prices. Guests appreciate the chance to enjoy the spectacular decor. Bombay Borough scored 4.5 in the Google rating system.

Also we spent our last dinner at the Bombay Borough. The food itself was tasty and the portion size absolutely acceptable. Regarding the surrounding experience there are few things that an establishment of that level should do better: The first one: Bombay Borough positions itself in a higher price range, which is absolutely fine. However, their pricing tactics unfortunately and completely avoidably are intransparent and leave a metaphorical “bad taste” behind: it clearly says that the prices in the menu are subject to a service charge and government regulated taxes, but what this actually means remains unclear. And Bombay Borough basically outsources all sorts of costs to the consumer of which you will only become transparently aware once you get the bill. From service charges (normal), to VAT and tourism fees and then on top social security contributions. This might all be correct by law, but as a business you have a choice of how you want to present yourself to the customer and most restaurants I have visited on my trips through Sri Lanka choose to include all of this simply in their meal prices- fully transparent for the customer to see immediately and without any avoidable misunderstandings. For me the choice of Bombay Borough to deal with it is in the area of being “shady”. Unnecessary. The menu comes in two wobbly booklets and on every second page one can hardly read the dishes and ingredients because the binding holes are punched deep into the page. Maybe the management wants to check that. The food came fast, at the same time as the drinks, but while I was still eating my last bites I almost had the waiters arm in my face who jumped in from the side and leaned all over the table trying to remove the already empty plates - also that was an unnecessary. Another young man in a jacket and jeans (maybe a young manager?), asked us, if everything was ok, which was a good move. Well done. The critical parts of our experience can be addressed with a few management actions and if done, the good -albeit comparably expensive- food will not be “wrapped” in a medium experience. This is an amazing place with an awesome ambiance. The food is 10/10. We ordered chicken kebab biryani and chur chur spicy, which were both excellent. The dabba gosht was one of my favourites, and even the kebab naan was so good. Honestly, everything on the menu felt like a 10/10. We wanted to order dessert as well, but we were so full.
