At Eat Tokyo (Notting Hill Gate), diners can expect authentic Japanese cuisine at an affordable price. While the ambiance and interior design may not be the restaurant's strong suits, the quality of food more than makes up for it. With a menu featuring classic Japanese dishes such as unagi-don (grilled eel on rice) and sashimi, there is something for everyone. The establishment also offers bento boxes and gyoza, which are homemade and delicious. Prices are reasonable, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a budget-friendly fine dining spot in London.
One standout dish is the toro sashimi, which is made with high-quality tuna. Another popular option is the unagi jyuu, although some diners have noted that the eel can be drowned in BBQ sauce. For those looking for a refreshing drink, the establishment offers a variety of soft drinks, including Ramune, a carbonated lemon-lime soda. Additionally, the restaurant serves sake and wine to pair with your meal.
While the service can be hit or miss, with some diners noting rude waitstaff, others have praised the polite and attentive female Japanese staff. The establishment does not offer outdoor seating or live music, but its convenient location in Notting Hill Gate makes it easily accessible for locals and tourists alike. Overall, Eat Tokyo is a great place to satisfy your craving for Japanese cuisine without breaking the bank.
There are several branches of Eat Tokyo in London and they all offer tasty Japanese food at reasonable prices. I used to live in Japan and find the food at Eat Tokyo to be very authentic and of good quality. However, the Notting Hill branch has to be my favourite. What sets it apart is the excellent service by Nobuko San and the entire team. Everyone is very friendly, professional and welcoming. They also have on the menu some dishes which I could not find at the other branches, such as the Buta Kakuni and Hanpen Cheese Fried. I definitely recommend Eat Tokyo if you want to eat authentic Japanese food at a decent price. I will definitely continue to be a regular customer.
