We had an amazing experience at Avli for my wife’s birthday. The team went above and beyond to make the evening special, taking care of every detail and organizing everything perfectly. Their attention to detail and warm hospitality made us feel truly welcome. On top of that, the food was absolutely excellent. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The combination of outstanding service and delicious cuisine made it an unforgettable celebration. Thank you to the whole team for making my wife’s birthday so memorable. We will definitely be back! There are restaurants you eat at, and restaurants you truly experience. Avli belongs to the latter — and for us it became the highlight of an already wonderful holiday in Crete. We visited on 30 June to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary — 25 years of marriage — as a family of three. The setting alone is extraordinary: a 16th century Venetian building with an indoor courtyard of flowering vines and evening light that creates an atmosphere no interior designer could manufacture. It simply grows over centuries, and here it has. The evening began with a welcome sparkling rosé for all three of us — a thoughtful touch that paired perfectly with the amuse bouche. We chose the 6-course Avli Degustation with lamb as our main course and the 5-wine pairing. Every course was beautifully crafted using local and organic Cretan ingredients — the smoked pork with sourdough cream, the aged graviera with artichoke, and the roasted lamb with black garlic and red wine sauce were outstanding. What impressed us most was the kitchen’s care for our daughter, who does not eat meat or fish. Without hesitation, the kitchen prepared a complete matching vegetarian tasting menu for her — equally beautiful and equally considered as our own. In high season with a full house, this is not a given. It says everything about the people here. The restaurant had also purchased flowers for our anniversary. Details like these are not forgotten. Pricing for three: 2 × lamb menu (79€) + 2 × wine pairing (34€) + 1 × vegetarian menu (50€) + welcome drinks, water and soft drinks = 349€ total. We tipped 10%. Outstanding value for an evening of this calibre. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €50+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Our daughter does not eat meat or fish. Without hesitation, the kitchen prepared a complete matching vegetarian tasting menu for her — equally thoughtful and beautiful as our own 6-course degustation. Not a substitute. A separate culinary journey crafted with the same love. In high season with a full house, this is exceptional. Trust them completely.

We visited this restaurant several times during our stay in Crete, and every visit was a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, full of unforgettable flavors and beautifully prepared. We especially loved the excellent regional wines, which perfectly complemented every meal. The service was always friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The restaurant itself has beautiful interiors and a unique atmosphere that makes every dinner feel special. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Crete.
