Poldo e Gianna Osteria, located in a charming alley near Parliament, is a fine dining spot that offers exceptional Italian cuisine at a reasonable price. The ambiance is soft and elegant, with a beautiful heated outdoor seating area. The interior design is simple yet stylish, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The menu features a range of delicious pasta dishes, such as the rigatoni carbonara, which is considered the best carbonara in Rome, and the linguine al vongole. The restaurant also offers tasty meat dishes, including slow-cooked pork ribs and steak with rosemary potatoes. For dessert, try the homemade chocolate mousse or tiramisu. The wine selection is well-curated, and the Chardonnay pairs perfectly with the pasta dishes. The staff is friendly and attentive, with excellent English-speaking skills. Poldo e Gianna Osteria is a must-visit establishment for anyone looking for an authentic Italian dining experience in a cozy and romantic setting.

A Hidden Gem with Great Food Poldo e Gianna Osteria may look rather unassuming from the outside, but the food certainly makes up for the lack of showiness. It’s also a long-standing Michelin-recommended restaurant, which makes it a worthwhile stop for anyone looking for authentic Roman flavors. I tried the Carciofi Croccanti, which was delicious and nicely crispy, along with the beef, which was tender and well-seasoned. The Tiramisù was also a pleasant surprise, with its own distinctive character and flavor. And on a hot summer day in Rome, nothing beats an ice-cold Coca-Cola - it was pure refreshing happiness! Overall, the food was very enjoyable and definitely the highlight. The only downside was that the service was rather average and could be more attentive. A modest-looking place with genuinely good food. Definitely worth trying if you’re in Rome. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Bad experience all around. Rigatoni Carbonara was undercooked while Rigatoni Amatriciana was not. House red wine had an awful aftertaste like drinking a beverage out of a can. A service charge was added to our bill (2€ a person) and when we went to pay upstairs, we were asked if we wanted to add a tip in front of a slew of other guests. I then said “isn’t there a service charge already added?” and the man running our card acted like he didn’t know what we were talking about. It was rude and uncomfortable the way this question was posed and we felt pressured to say yes and add a tip, especially with others listening on. We felt this was predatory as we’re American and they likely knew we’d feel the need to say yes and add a tip. We have been here 8 days and have not been charged a service charge or asked to tip at any other establishment. There are much better meals with much better pricing & wine in Rome at restaurants that don’t prey on Americans. I want my money back. AVOID.
