Visited Lagoon at Cinnamon Grand for dinner and had a generally pleasant experience with good food, drinks, and ambience. Food ordered: • Lagoon Crab (1 kg) – Singapore Chilli Style: The crab itself was fresh and meaty, but the chilli crab sauce was disappointing. It was noticeably watery and overly salty, lacking the rich, balanced flavour typically associated with a good Singapore Chilli Crab. • Thai-style Prawns: The standout dish of the evening. Excellent flavour, perfectly cooked, and easily the best item we ordered. • Fish Roe: Well prepared and enjoyable. • Hot Butter Cuttlefish: Very good. Crispy, flavourful, and met expectations. • Fish & Chips: Large portion size with good value for money. • Fragrant Rice & Roast Paan: Both were good accompaniments to the seafood dishes. Drinks: • Mocktails – Good selection and well prepared. • Cocktails – Equally enjoyable and well balanced. Service & Ambience: The restaurant offers a pleasant dining atmosphere and attentive service. The seafood quality was generally very good, and most dishes were executed well. Overall: While the signature Singapore Chilli Crab was a letdown due to the watery and excessively salty sauce, the excellent Thai-style prawns, good seafood quality, enjoyable drinks, and pleasant ambience made for a worthwhile dining experience. Would return again, but would opt for a different preparation for the crab. Price per person: Rs 10,000+

First visit to the Lagoon restaurant inside the Cinnamon Grand Colombo hotel. Came as the restaurant opened at noon, was welcomed warmly by the many hosts. Restaurant decor was sparse, but the star attraction is the seafood on offer and the garden view outdoors. The seafood spread was impressive. Lots of fresh fish, lobster, shrimp and some small blue crabs were on display. After only seeing small crabs on display, I asked whether they had larger crabs, the chef checked on the back. And indeed found a larger crab. Party of two males, we ordered a lobster (900g), white fish, and mud crab (1000g). Our waiter Gayah spoke decent English, and we trusted his recommendations as to cooking methods. Lobster thermidor, Modha fish in Thai red curry (a bit spicy) and the Mud crab in white curry. All the seafood was fresh caught, and cooked perfectly. We ordered mocktails which were well made and refreshing. Our host Lolitha helped us to take some nice photos. Great experience, friendly service, amazing seafood. Not cheap for Sri Lanka, but considering the quality of the seafood, our check total around 86k LKR was good value for money. Highly recommend the Lagoon restaurant. And looking forward to my next visit to Colombo. Price per person: Rs 10,000+

An absolutely outstanding seafood experience at The Lagoon inside Cinnamon Grand Colombo. One of the best concepts for seafood lovers — you get to personally select your choice of fresh fish, lobster, crab, prawns and have it prepared in your preferred international cooking style including Sri Lankan, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Continental, along with the chef’s special signature sauces. Everything we ordered was exceptional. The lobster cooked in spicy coconut curry was incredibly flavorful and perfectly balanced, while the fish prepared in the white curry sauce was rich, delicate, and absolutely delicious. A very special thanks to Manager Kapil, Executive Sous Chef Piyal, Gayan, and the entire team for their warm hospitality, attention to detail, and for delivering such an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Colombo and looking for premium seafood with outstanding service. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: Rs 10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
