This place is great! Got here at 5:30 on Monday night. Wanted to dine for happy hr. The waitress said there was an hr wait and that it was possible we would miss the happy hr. Luckily we waited about 40 min and they were able to seat us at the bar. This place was fun atmosphere and friendly service. The sushi was great and the presentation was amazing. All of the food was good. We got about 8 dishes and a drink for $80. So happy hr is worth it!
We came to celebrate my husband's birthday last year. After having a baby, anywhere that isn't too busy or allows people to reserve a spot is up to my priority list. Im the kind of person who likes to read the menu and all Yelp reviews before arriving. We already have a favorite nigiri place in Austin and wanted to see what the hype is all about. Arrived during sake social to sample as much food as possible and although everything was fresh, they are in smaller than average pieces. I'm more familiar with Soto and think they are similar in terms of offering upscale, delicate, fusion Japanese food. Our dining experience was wonderful, little one behaved throughout our meal (sitting for 1.5-2 hours for a 9 months old is Ahhhh-mazing), and waitstaff extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Dessert was too sweet for our taste buds but was memorable. Uchi has been on my list for a few years so this was a dream come true itself.
If you are prepared to shell out the money (not a cheap dining experience) this is some of the best sushi you will ever eat. Every dish is wonderfully fresh and left the whole family smiling, each of us repeatedly making scrumptious sounds of satisfaction as we ate. My mom couldn't stop saying "exquisite" after every bite (it became a running joke within the family how many times she would use the adjective that night), but to be fair everything about this place truly is. Treat yourself to a dining experience you won't soon forget.
