Two MICHELIN stars: exceptional cuisine. Worth a detour!
Very good standard.

Some people call Ronda the “city of dreams”. But without drifting off into reverie, we are indeed talking about one of the most beautiful towns in Andalucia, where Bardal, not far from the impressive bridge over El Tajo de Ronda, is now a flagship of the local restaurant scene... More info

One of the best Michelin stared restaurants I have visited. A culinary treasure house, very much deserving the two Michelin stars. The tasting menu is a really special experience. Everything was fabulous, perhaps the oyster with the Mexican mole and the sweet bread with vanilla were my favorites. Special compliments for the great attention to texture of the food, that enhanced the taste experience to the highest level. The ambiance is not special and the soft background music not my favorite, but that is totally compensated for by the extremely friendly service. If you like tea, the “tea car” is a great experience. We're really happy to hear you enjoyed the tasting menu and that the oyster with Mexican mole and the sweetbread with vanilla were among your favorites. It's also great to know that you appreciated the textures in the dishes—that's something we work on with a lot of care. Thanks as well for your honest comments about the ambiance and the music. And we're especially glad our team and the tea cart helped make your visit even more memorable. We hope to see you again soon at Bardal!

Not for us I’m afraid. We were a party of 4 on a day trip to Ronda especially to visit Bardal restaurant. First of all I was disappointed in the back room. It lacks atmosphere and the large round conference table had metal legs that had 2 guests uncomfortable. Obviously they keep the front more atmospheric room for the evening guests. Lunch and dinner are the same price. The staff were lovely and the welcome was warm. To be honest the food courses were very similar in texture and lacked strong flavor profiles. The featured jelly, custard and foam textures which were just not to our taste and seemed a bit repetitive. You could tell from the amount of food returned to the kitchen that we clearly weren’t enjoying the dishes but none of the team in the dining room enquired about our enjoyment of the food. This was disappointing. I know they can’t offer an alternative as the dishes are set but they need some strategy for dealing with this scenario. The could have asked but they didn’t seem to care. We didn’t feel the love. The petit fours and coffee were lovely. The bill was €780. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €100+ Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

My visit to this Michelin-starred restaurant was overall a pleasant experience. The restaurant is charming, offering a menu inspired by local ingredients and regional traditions. The staff were exceptionally polite, attentive, and knowledgeable, providing detailed explanations of each course and creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout the lunch. Many of the dishes were flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. However, I felt that the menu lacked variety in its presentation and textures. The first part of the tasting menu consisted largely of liquid-based preparations, with several courses resembling soups or broths. Later, many dishes were topped with foams or rich sauces. While these techniques can be effective, their repeated use throughout the meal made the experience feel somewhat monotonous visually. Dining is not only about taste, but also about visual excitement, and I found myself wishing for more diversity in presentation. The dessert course was the biggest disappointment for me. One dessert combined mushrooms with a very sweet meringue. Sadly, I found the pairing unsuccessful, creating a flavour profile that felt confusing rather than innovative. The sweetness of the meringue and the earthy mushroom notes clashed in a way that I personally did not enjoy. Another point worth mentioning concerns dietary preferences. My brother does not eat pineapple, and when he asked whether an alternative dessert could be provided, we were told that none was available. While I understand that tasting menus require careful preparation, I believe that restaurants operating at this level should have some flexibility to accommodate simple preferences whenever possible. Guests cannot reasonably be expected to disclose every ingredient they dislike during the reservation process, and small gestures of adaptability can significantly enhance the overall experience. In summary, the restaurant offers excellent service, high-quality ingredients, and considerable technical expertise. However, greater variety in presentation and a more guest-oriented approach to reasonable substitutions would elevate the experience further. Overall, I would rate the experience 7 out of 10. I would recommend visiting if you appreciate refined cooking and attentive service, but those seeking more creativity in presentation or greater flexibility with preferences may find some aspects disappointing. Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated the quality of the ingredients, the work of our team, and the service provided throughout your visit. Creating a welcoming and attentive atmosphere is something we value greatly, so your recognition means a lot to us. We also sincerely appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the menu. Our tasting menu reflects a particular culinary vision that evolves throughout the season, but we understand that personal preferences and expectations can vary. Your observations about presentation, textures, and the progression of the menu are valuable and will be shared with our team for consideration. Regarding the dessert and the flavor combination you mentioned, we understand that some creations can be more challenging and may not resonate equally with every guest. We respect your perspective and appreciate your honesty. As for dietary preferences, we are sorry that your brother felt limited in his options. While we are generally able to adapt the menu for allergies, intolerances, and dietary restrictions communicated in advance, last-minute modifications can sometimes be difficult due to the nature and preparation of the menu. Nevertheless, we understand your point of view and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Thank you again for your visit and for sharing both the highlights and the areas where you feel we can improve. We are grateful for your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future.
